Graphics settings
Is the island choppy on your phone, or does your computer have power to spare? The graphics setting decides how pretty and how smooth.
Where to find it
- On the island: in the ⋯ menu at the very bottom, under “View & friends”, choose Graphics.
- Start page and waiting lobby: in the menu at the top right (three dots), under Graphics.
- On the island, the window also shows how many frames per second you’re getting right now.
The tiers
| Tier | What you get |
|---|---|
| Automatic | adapts to your device – the default |
| Low | soft spots instead of shadows, fewer particles, shorter view distance – for older phones |
| Medium | shadows, lantern light, drifting clouds, gentle waves and spray at the waterfall – good for most phones |
| High | softer shadows, more lights, long view distance, reflections in the water, dancing light in the shallows, glowing lanterns and a colour mood for each time of day – for laptops and PCs |
| Ultra | even softer shadows, sharper reflections, denser plants, full-detail trees all the way to the horizon |
How “Automatic” works
- Shortly after you enter the island, it measures how smoothly things run and then picks a tier.
- If things get choppy later, it switches down right away and tells you once. It never switches up in the middle of play.
- For water, “Automatic” goes no higher than Medium (waves yes, reflections no). Reflections, glow and colour mood only appear when you pick High or Ultra yourself.
- If you pick a tier yourself, your choice wins – “Automatic” stays out of it.
Good to know
- Your choice only applies to the device and browser you make it in. You can use different tiers on your phone and your PC.
- Some settings only take effect the next time you enter the island – the window lets you know.
- Reflections and glow cost the most performance. If your laptop struggles, Medium often does the trick – the waves stay.
- In photo mode you see the picture without glow and colour mood – exactly how your photo will turn out.
If your phone struggles, choose Low. The island still looks nice but runs much more smoothly.
