Shiny fish
A shiny is the rare color variant of a species – a catch you’ll talk about for a long time.
What is it?
Every species in the Fishdex has a color variant. It turns up in about 1 in 2,000 fish – whatever the species’ rarity.
How do I recognize one?
- A glitter animation on the catch card and its own view in the Fishdex.
- In all bucket lists, a ✦ marks it, and it sorts to the end.
- Island Radio announces the catch – without revealing the species name.
Value and safety
- Frieda pays 5 times as much.
- Before selling, salvaging, feeding, grilling or donating, the game asks again. A shiny won’t be lost by accident.
Collecting
Three collection sets belong to the shinies: Shimmer, Pearl and Prism.
