Job board

Jobs hang at the harbour office: short minigames for shells, with stars, ranks and daily jobs – plus a group job and a second board in the mine.

Where is the board?

  • In the Harbour Quarter, right next to the harbour office. Harbour master Hella Poller works there.
  • Walk over and tap the board. Or pick “Job board” in the ⋯ menu – from far away it shows you the way on the island map.
  • A badge on the button shows how many daily jobs are still open. Nothing else pops up.
  • A second board hangs in the mine, run by foreman Hannes. Open it in the ⋯ menu under “Foreman’s board” – the entry only shows while you are underground.

Daily jobs

  • Every day, 3 jobs hang on the board, picked for you. New ones arrive at midnight.
  • Each one has 2 rounds. Every round is paid right away, and at least 1 star counts.
  • All three together are worth about as much as 25 minutes of fishing – and they take much less time.
  • Sometimes you also get basic materials or a piece of furniture for your hut.

Pay grows with your fishing level – so the board is worth it for newcomers and old hands alike.

Odd jobs and errands

  • Odd jobs are always available. They pay about 72 % of fishing per hour – a change of pace, not a replacement.
  • The first 40 runs a day pay in full, after that 60%, and after 90 runs 35%. Experience always counts in full, and Hella starts counting again at midnight (German time).
  • Errands – bring, find or photograph something – also hang on the board: up to 16 a day, the first 12 at full pay, after that 50%.
  • Every note has a 💡 button: it reveals tips on how the task works – separately for keyboard and phone. More in the guide “Errands and island jobs”.

The screen jobs

  • Crates: space, enter or tap anywhere when the block is over the tower. Boats: WASD or joystick to move, space or the paint button for a splat.
  • Conveyor belt: click or tap a switch, or press 1–4 on the keyboard (space flips the highlighted switch).
  • Snack bar: click or tap a grill spot or the fryer basket (keys 1–3 and F) and take it off again when golden brown; hold the tap (or the space bar) and let go at the line. Once everything in the speech bubble is ticked, click or tap the customer – that’s also how you shoo the gull.
  • At the conveyor belt you bring every crate to the boat with the same flag – same color, same symbol. The dotted line shows where the next crate would land. Golden express crates count double, “?” crates only show their flag just before the first switch, and a gull on a switch has to be shooed away first. A wrong boat only costs your streak: the crate rides back to the warehouse.
  • Mend nets: click or tap a rope end and drag it cell by cell to its match. With the keyboard, the arrow keys move the cursor and space picks a rope up and puts it down.
  • Lighthouse: point at the sea with the mouse, turn with A/D or ←/→, or put your finger on the sea on a phone – the beam follows. Flash: space, right-click, click or tap the lit reef boat, double tap or FLASH. Foghorn: S, ↓ or HORN. The note only works at night – by day it hangs greyed out on the board.
  • At the lighthouse, boats arrive from every direction. In the light they sail quickly and safely, in the dark they slow down – and near the coast their ring fills up. Once it is full, the boat radios SOS. If you do not light it up in time, it runs onto a sandbank and gets towed in; only your streak is lost. You only see reefs in the light: if a red line points at a reef, flash the boat and it turns away. Fog banks shorten the beam, and the foghorn makes all boats wait for a moment. You score for every boat in the harbour, extra without SOS and for your streak – and a calm night with no boat towed earns a bonus.
  • In the mine: for the props pick a spot with ←/→ or 1–5, hold space until the prop sits under the roof and drive the wedges in on the green ★ zone (on a phone hold the spot and tap); pump by alternating A and D (or ← and →) or the two thumb pads (valve: keys 1–3 or tap a chamber, leak: space or tap it); the cart ride needs just one button: hold space, the mouse button or your finger going downhill and let go at the crest. If water breaks in, pumping says “Urgent right now” – the pay stays the same.
  • Pump water: keep the gauge needle in the green zone – that’s where the most water flows out. Above it the valve whistles; at the very top it blows off and the pump jams for a moment. You score for water pumped out, for every second in the green and for every second all chambers stay below the red line.
  • Ride the cart: the cart rolls over the hills by itself. Hold when it goes downhill – it gets heavy and picks up speed. Let go uphill and it takes off at the crest. Land parallel to the slope for a turbo and a growing streak; landing at an angle slows the cart down. In the tunnels it scrapes the roof if it flies too high. Before a ramp with the ⬆ sign your speed decides: with enough of it you land up on the high track with more gems. You score for every metre, for gems and for clean landings. The dust cloud behind you only halves gem points – nothing breaks.

Stars and ranks

  • After every run you get 1 to 3 stars. More stars, more pay. No star, no pay – just try again.
  • Every job has its own ranks: helper, journeyman at 24 experience, master at 90.
  • A higher rank unlocks harder variants – with better pay. You also get a one-time bonus, a title and a piece of furniture.
  • Guests only earn ranks for their visit. With an account they stay.

Group job: the team shift

  • Once a day you can do a shift in the warehouse with 2 to 4 players. Whoever opens it in the board window also starts it; the others at the board join.
  • Everyone builds their crate tower at the same time and sees the others’ towers. The average decides the team stars: from 10, 18 and 27 floors.
  • The pay is worth about 6 minutes of fishing. A team bonus comes on top: +10 % with two, +20 % with three, +30 % with four.
  • If someone stops or loses the connection, the others carry on and get paid as long as at least two are left. No team star, no pay – you may try again right away.
  • The screen jobs also exist as minigames for the party board – for example Conveyor belt, Snack-bar helper, Mend nets and Cart Flight.
