Errands and island jobs

Four kinds of errands and two island jobs from the job board: deliver fish, carry parcels, take photos, find lost things, deliver post, shoo gulls.

How an errand works

  • Up to 16 notes hang on the board in the Harbour Quarter for you every day. The first 12 errands pay in full, after that you get 50%.
  • Tap “Accept”. A small note appears at the bottom with an arrow and the distance, and the target is marked on the minimap and island map.
  • Picking up and handing over happens by itself once you reach the target – or you tap the button on the note.
  • You can give up any time with the ✕ on the note. Nothing is lost, not even fish.

The four kinds

  • Deliveries only take everyday fish (common and uncommon), never rare, shiny or giant ones. The smallest fish are always taken first.
  • Photos: The server only checks your position, viewing direction and light – no picture is uploaded. The subject has to be in the shot.
  • If the light isn’t right yet, the board tells you how long it takes – dusk and night come back every island day.
ErrandWhat you do
DeliveryTake fish from your bucket to the snack bar, the warehouse, the shipyard or a villager.
Errand runPick something up and take it to the folks on the island – a good way to learn the quarters.
Photo errandOpen photo mode and photograph a subject at the right time of day or in the right weather.
Lost propertySomething lies on the Wild Trail or in Hut Bay. Search inside the circle on the map – it gets “warm” as you come closer.

Island jobs

  • Deliver the post: You get 3 letters (journeyman 4, master 5) and take them to villagers – to the character’s house or to them in person. The order doesn’t matter.
  • The faster you are, the more speed points and stars – and more stars bring more shells per minute. Sprinting (shift key, on a phone push the stick all the way out) pays off.
  • Shoo gulls: Gulls land on the quay in the Harbour Quarter. Run over and they fly off – if you are too late, they take off by themselves.
  • Both work like odd jobs: stars, ranks and sometimes as a daily job.

How to get tips

  • Every note on the board has a 💡 button. Tap it and the first tip appears; “Another tip” brings the next one.
  • The tips tell you where to go and what exactly to do – keyboard and phone separately. For errands and the gulls, “Show on the map” points out the place.
  • There is a 💡 on the memo note at the bottom too. If you make no progress for more than 75 seconds (sooner with the gulls) or something does not work, it pulses and offers you the next tip.
  • The first time you accept a kind of errand or island job, the first tip opens once by itself. Under ⋯ → Help → Island guide → “Introduction & tips” you can switch off “All tips on your first visit”.

Tips cost nothing and change neither pay nor stars – use them as often as you like.

Pay

  • Errands pay about 72 % of fishing per hour. If you sprint and take smart routes, you easily come out ahead.
  • Deliveries pay for the fish too: they bring a bit more than the trader would give.

Pick errands that are on your way: an errand run to the Ore Mountain and a find on the Wild Trail often lie in the same direction. Waypoints save the way back.
